Abstract

This module is accompanied by a teaching of practical and directed work (TP/TD) which focuses on the methods used in animal biology, observation and interpretation of experimental results. Mastery of the concepts acquired in the context of TDs and TPs is necessary for a good understanding of most of the chapters of this module. This handout consists of four chapters: The first chapter deals with the animal kingdom, exploring its classification, its main characteristics and the diversity of the species that compose it. This chapter provides an understanding of the basics of animal taxonomy, large groups (phyla)

Description

Develop basic knowledge of animal classification (systematic) and taxonomy to understand diversity and evolutionary relationships between species. - Identify and understand major biological functions in animals, such as nutrition, respiration, reproduction, and shedding. - Learn to observe and identify the main morphological characteristics of animals and relate them to their lifestyles and adaptation. - Use microscopic observation techniques to examine samples, understand the cellular and tissue structure of animals, and distinguish between different groups of organisms
